Steady As She Goes - Imperial Stout
The Imperial stout is the king of stout styles and a favourite with craft brewers around the world. The BJCP Guidelines say it is a dark, higher alcohol (7 to 12%), generally hoppier stout (50 to 90 IBU), conveying flavours of dark chocolate, fruit esters, coffee, dark fruits, molasses and offering a chewy, velvety and luscious mouthfeel. They are usually Jet Black with a Mocha coloured head.
Due to the Alcohol, they age really well and can be cellared.
